Joyce Lee is an alumna and scholarship recipient of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM), where she received both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Violin Performance with a strong emphasis on chamber music.  She enjoys collaborating with other musicians on stage, at public venues, fundraisers, house concerts, church services, and at events such as weddings, luncheons and art exhibits. She has played for thousands of events over the course of her career, including the wedding of George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the memorial service for Alfred Peet of Peet’s Coffee, and the soundtrack recording to the Korean TV series, “Life is Beautiful.”

Joyce has concertized around the United States with Bella Sorella, a soprano duo-piano-violin ensemble.  Bella Sorella has shared a program with folk music legend Joan Baez in a benefit concert for the Peninsula College Fund, was featured with the Redwood Symphony, and was invited to perform through the Vallejo Symphony Presents series.  Joyce has also traveled to Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Denmark, and Amsterdam to perform on tour with the SF Symphony Youth Orchestra, to New Orleans to play with the Louisiana Philharmonic, to Las Vegas to play as Concertmaster of the summer festival orchestra and to Indianapolis to play in a workshop sponsored by the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis.  Joyce was a member of the band Naked Fiction, which meshed classical components with jazz and rock influences to create a unique tonal atmosphere.

Joyce is Concertmaster of the Vallejo Symphony.  She is also a former member of the Marin Symphony, and has played with Symphony Silicon Valley, Santa Rosa, and Stockton Symphonies.  She has been the violin soloist, Concertmaster and Principal 2nd with Symphonia Caritas, Principal 2nd with the SF Lyric Opera, violin soloist and Concertmaster with the Nova Vista Symphony.  She has also soloed with the Marin and Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestras.

Joyce is Associate Adjunct Professor in Chamber Music at St. Mary’s College in Moraga.  In addition to maintaining a full private studio of violin, piano, and viola students, coaching cellists, and accompanying students and colleagues, she has trained and coached musicians at UC Davis, SFCM’s Summer Music West, the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra, Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland, and AP Giannini Middle School in San Francisco.  Her students have been chosen for principal positions including Concertmaster, Principal 2nd, and Principal Viola in the Cazadero Performing Arts Camp, Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra, Peninsula Youth Orchestra, and in their local school orchestras.  Joyce's piano students are often chosen to participate in ensembles, a result of strong chamber music skills.

Some of Joyce's additional skills include transcribing, making string and piano arrangements of popular songs, plus video editing, which she learned in the process and production of recording both her multi-instrument arrangements and student performances.

Thank you for supporting musicians everywhere.  We devote ourselves to sharing, giving and helping.  We can offer comfort, peace, hope, encouragement, and resolve in profound ways that promote resilience, lessen pain, heal the body and uplift the spirit.  Be well!
